Trudy lives in Wellington surrounded by trees, birds and chickens! She creates jewellery by upcycling used bicycle inner tubes, creating a beautiful product for you to wear and enjoy out of something that usually ends up in the landfill.
The name 'Plumatic' is a combination of plumage and pneumatic - I'm creating feathers (plumage) out of old inner tubes (pneumatic tyres). The earrings are named after bike models, parts or trails and birds.
Each item of jewellery is handmade and Trudy makes all of her hooks out of sterling silver. She also cuts the tubes by hand into a variety of shapes, mostly feathers and some leaves, tear drops or other shapes and hand paints some with metallic paint to catch the light as you move.
